In January this past year Abram and I got news that our rent would be increasing. At that point we started looking for another place to rent. We only found that any "decent" place to rent would cost the same as the increase where we already were. So, we figured if we were going to put out this money, we should start thinking about buying. It was fun to look for a while, walking thru houses and dreaming of our own place and what we could/would/should do to it. Loooong story short, we ended up building in, what I recall an aquaintence once calling it - a "cheap new house neighborhood"- in reference to someone else who lives there. I wonder what she thought when she found out we were building there :) Ah well.
The end of March we moved all our packed up belongings to some dear friends' house into a spare bedroom and we set up our space - our bed and clothes - in another spare bedrooom. We camped out here for two months while our house was built. We thank God for Jason and Sundi and their selfless sacrifice of allowing us to overtake their peaceful living!
It was definitely fun to watch our house go up. My perfectionist husband was even pleased with the process. I was proud of him, as he wants to be hands on, and this time we had no say in how things were done. Next time!
So, here are some pictures of our place coming to fruition:
It was completed 20 June and we moved in, after a very frustrating closing affair, 27 June. Just two days before our trip to Japan. We have much to do yet, but are taking things slowly as it all costs $$$$$$!!
